SNHU Arrives In Daytona For Nationals

Penmen Compete Thursday Morning

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -  SNHU Cheer has arrived in Daytona Beach for the NCA Championships.  The Penmen perform at 10:20 a.m. at the Bandshell in the Advanced All-Girl Division II with schools from around the nation.

The following report was filed today by freshman Alexis Chrissanthiss (Derry, N.H.):

"We arrived in Daytona last night and we had our official practice today. We started with a stunt warm up session outside in the grass. It was hot but we had an amazing and perfect start to our day. Then, we went inside the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort where we finished out our official practice with a full out. It was an amazing experience to practice with other college teams, we are very excited to head into day 1 tomorrow."

Assistant coach, Ben King, said "A couple little issues in our first official practice but we made some corrections and adjustments to fix them in a little practice tune up outside at grass practice with some pressure sets.  We are ready to take on day 1 and do what we came here to do."

"We shook out the first day jitters and are ready for tomorrow. We finished our practice day with another stunt session outside, to be confident going into day 1. Following practice, we set out to explore the area. The rookies got to see the bandshell, the clock tower, and other iconic locations for the first time. My first time in Daytona for NCA college nationals has so far been incredible! Our team is enjoying themselves and having a great time bonding with each other."

When asked how it felt seeing the bandshell for the first time, freshman Talen Letoile said, "I felt hungry and ready to go. I get very grateful and blessed to be here, seeing the bandshell for the first time."

We are closing out our day in our hotel, eating a good meal, and going to bed early. We are so excited for day 1 and to show everyone what we have been working so hard on all season!

The Penmen finished in third place in the Advanced All-Girl category among Div. II schools at the 2022 Championships, which were also held in Daytona Beach.

Live streaming of the event (for a fee) is available through Varsity TV.
