Baseball Earns 11th NCAA Postseason Berth, Top Seed, Hosting Duties

Penmen will host three-team pod May 18-20

INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team received a selection to the NCAA Championship for the 11th time, earning the East Region's No. 1 seed, and will host a three-team pod at Penmen Field on May 18-20, the NCAA Selection Committee announced Sunday night when it released its field of 56 teams.

SNHU, which received an at-large bid, will host regional play for the sixth time and first since 2019. The Penmen (37-11) will play their first game Thursday, May 18 (3 p.m.) when they host the loser of fourth-seeded Franklin Pierce University (34-17) and fifth-seeded Pace University (33-19).

The winner of East Regional I will advance to the May 26-27 East Super-Regional, where it will battle the winner of East Regional II, which is being played at second-seeded Goldey-Beacom University and also features third-seeded Le Moyne College (31-19), sixth-seeded Queens (N.Y.) College (33-17) and seventh-seeded Felician University (25-30). The team that comes away victorious will punch its ticket to the Division II College World Series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., from June 3-10.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors (55+) and students. Children under 5-years-old will be admitted free of charge. SNHU faculty, staff and students with an ID will also receive free admission, courtesy Courtyard by Marriott Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (700 Huse Road, Manchester). Tickets will go on sale 90 minutes before the first game each day and will be available at the ticket booth at the entrance to Penmen Field. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

The Penmen, who have made 11 straight appearances (an NCAA Championship was not held in 2020), are 36-24 (.600) lifetime in the NCAA tournament and are the two-time defending East Region Champions. SNHU has advanced to the World Series four times, capturing regional crowns in 2012, 2018, 2021 and 2022.

Southern New Hampshire is 4-3 all-time in the tourney versus Franklin Pierce and 1-0 against Pace. This season, the Penmen took three of four from the Ravens at the end of April, while they did not play the Setters, who wound up capturing the NE10 title.
