Baseball Trio Receives CSC Academic All-District Team Honors

All three are eligible for Academic All-America recognition

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Juniors Casey Cumiskey (Milltown, N.J.) and Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.), and senior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.), all of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team, were tabbed for the Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, Tuesday.

Cumiskey, who adds to his list of 2026 accolades that include American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America Third Team, Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Honorable Mention, ABCA East All-Region First Team, D2CCA East All-Region First Team, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East All-Region First Team, NE10 All-Conference First Team and NE10 All-Defensive Team honors at shortstop, finished the year batting .362 (71-196) with 20 home runs, 69 RBI, 64 runs scored and 16 stolen bases, while slashing .445/.745/1.190. Cumiskey made 13 errors in 243 chances at short for a .947 fielding percentage. The two-time NE10 Player of the Week (March 9, April 6) ranked second in the East Region in home runs, fourth in RBI and slugging percentage, 1th in runs, 16th in hits and doubles. Nationally, he was 14th in home runs, 32nd in RBI, 34th in slugging and 72nd in runs scored. Cumiskey's 20 long-balls set a new single-season record for the Penmen, while the 69 RBI were third and the 64 runs were 10th. He is a business administration major with a 3.52 GPA.

Valera wrapped up the season at .298 (51-171) with 10 homers, 45 RBI and 34 runs scored, while producing a slash line of .362/.550/.912. The sport management major with a 3.52 GPA made seven errors in 121 chances at the hot corner for a .942 fielding mark. The April 20 NE10 Player of the Week was 20th in the region in home runs. He was also an ABCA East All-Region Second Team, D2CCA East All-Region First Team, NCBWA East All-Region Second Team, NE10 First Team and NE10 All-Defensive Team recipient.

Lendrum, a mechanical engineering major with a 3.95 GPA who earns the honor for a third straight year, also received NE10 All-Conference Third Team and NE10 All-Defensive Team accolades this season. He made 16 appearances, including 12 starts, going 6-1 with a 5.07 ERA, striking out 51 and walking only 19 in 65-and-two-thirds innings. The March 2 NE10 Pitcher of the Week ranked third in the region in complete games (4), eighth in walks allowed per nine innings (2.60) and 18th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.68).

The 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists, which Cumiskey, Valera and Lendrum are, are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 23.
