Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.), and graduate student
Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country and women's track & field teams, were tabbed for the Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, this week.
Corcoran put together a truly elite 2022-23 across all three seasons. In cross country, Corcoran, individually, ran to both NE10 (21:26.7) and NCAA East Region (21:55.4) titles, as two of her four victories out of the seven meets she ran at. She was named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East All-Region and NE10 All-Conference First Team.
During the indoor season, Corcoran earned USTFCCCA East All-Region honors and was also chosen as the Most Valuable Athlete and Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the NE10 Championships, as she claimed three individual titles in the mile (5:03.77), 3000m (10:40.80) and 5000m (18:40.96). She qualified for the NCAA National Championships in the mile.
In the outdoor season, Corcoran, again was the Most Valuable Athlete and Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the NE10 Championships, as she collected three more individual crowns in the 1500m (4:28.96), 5000m (18:05.37) and 3000m steeplechase (11:26.80). She qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third time during the academic year, earning a spot in the field of the steeplechase, where she finished seventh (10:37.75) to claim USTFCCCA All-America First Team recognition.
Corcoran also gets it done in the classroom, as she has so far earned NE10 Sport Excellence Awards and NE10 Academic All-Conference nods this season in both cross country and indoor track & field. She earned a 4.0 GPA in pursuing her MBA.
Seamans, who owns a perfect 4.0 in accounting, also competed in all three seasons. She ran in seven cross country meets, turning in three top-four performances, including at the NE10 Championship where she finished fourth (22:45.3). Seamans placed eighth at the NCAA East Regional Championship (22:37.9). She collected both USTFCCCA East All-Region and NE10 All-Conference First Team honors.
Seamans took part in four meets during the indoor season, finishing third in both the 3000m (10:45.04) and 5000m (18:50.76) at the NE10 Championships. Seamans won the Elite 24 Award for having the highest GPA at the NE10 Championships. She was also 15th in the 3000 at the NEICAAA Championships (10:41.36).
In the outdoor campaign, Seamans was crowned NE10 Champion in the 10,000m with a personal-best time of 38:09.43, in addition to running fourth in the 5,000 (18:33.57). She also set PRs with runner-up finishes in the 5,000m (17:50.58) at the George Davis Invitational (April 21-22) and the mile (5:20.01) at the Penmen Relays (April 15). Seamans earned USTFCCCA East All-Region in both the 5000m and 10000m.
Gravell, a biology major with a 3.95 GPA, competes in both indoor and outdoor track & field. During indoor, she participated in eight meets, setting five personal bests, including at the USM II meet on Jan. 7 when she won the 55m in a time of 7.48. The other four PRs all came at the NE10 Championships, where she was second in the 400m (57.08), third in the 60m prelims (7.97), fifth in the long jump (5.40) and sixth in the 200m (25.61). She was a USTFCCCA East All-Region honoree in the 400m
In outdoor, she scored seven wins, including three each at the SNHU Spring Twilight Invitational (March 31) and the Penmen Relays. She set a PR in the 400m (56.92) to finish fourth at NE10s and also set a personal mark in the 200m (25.59) to place fifth. Gravell also set a PR in the long jump (5.51m) at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29). She once again was USTFCCCA East All-Region in the 400m.
Hallet also competes in both indoor and outdoor track & field as a psychology major with a 3.91 GPA. She competed at 10 indoor meets, setting three personal bests, including at the NE10 Championships, where she finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.52). She was also second in the pentathlon. Hallet finished eighth in the 60m at the Panther Invitational I on Jan. 21 with a personal best of 8.54 and also set a PR in the shot put as part of the pentathlon at the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge on Dec. 2-3 with a mark of 9.25m. She earned a USTFCCCA East All-Region accolade in the pentathlon.
During the outdoor season, Hallet amassed eight wins, including the heptathlon at the NE10 Championships with a personal-high score of 4,063. She set PRs in the shot put (9.97m) and 800m (2:51.90) en route to the victory. Hallet also established new personal marks in the 100m (13.10) and long jump (5.21m) at the George Davis Invitational. She earned USTFCCCA East All-Region recognition in both the high jump and heptathlon.
Beckford earned a 3.95 GPA in pursuing her MBA. She took part in six indoor meets, scoring a pair of runner-up finishes in the weight throw (11.87m) and shot put (10.77m) to open the season at the Plymouth State Winter Classic (Dec. 10). She also set a PR in the weight throw (13.56m) when she finished seventh at the NE10 Championships.
Beckford set a PR at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships (May 13) in the javelin (35.20m) and also set PRs at the NE10 Outdoor Championships (May 6) in the shot put (11.86m) and discus (34.86m), as she finished third and sixth, respectively.
The Penmen completed the triple crown this season, winning the NE10 Championship in cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field. Cross country also captured the NCAA East Regional Championship for the first time.
