The Southern New Hampshire women's cross country team finished 5th of 37 teams competing Sunday at UMass Dartmouth, billed as the largest on-campus cross country meet in New England. Three Penmen cracked the program's top 20 all-time performances at the 5k distance.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) ran 28th overall. Her time of 18:42.2 was tied for the 12th best in program history and was a personal best.
- Senior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) ran 18:45.8, finishing 32nd. That was the 15th fastest time in program history.
- Just behind O'Rourke, in 33rd place, was senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) at 18:46.1, her PR and 16th fastest on the all-time list.
- Senior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) was 56th overall at 19:20.5, her fastest 5k.
- The top newcomer for the Penmen was freshman Kora Hay (Conventry, R.I., who finished 69th in 19:32.3.
NOTES
- This was the 50th annual running of the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
- Finishing ahead of the Penmen in the team scoring were Boston University (26), Stonehill (94), Connecticut College (99) and Southern Connecticut State University (183).
- A JV race was contested on Sunday with the Penmen finishing in fifth place of nine teams. Freshman Aveline McCabe (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was the top SNHU runner in that race with 20:51.1.

- The Penmen will next compete at the Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park in Boston on Friday, September 29. The women's race is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
