Women's Indoor Track & Field Wins Five Events at Southern Maine Saturday

Many Athletes Set New Marks In Second Competition

Five SNHU athletes won events as Indoor Track & Field competed Saturday at the University of Southern Maine's Alumni Open in Gorham, Maine.

HIGHLIGHTS
•    Junior Maggie McInerney (Acton, Mass.) recorded her second win of the season, taking the 300m in 42.15 while also finishing tied for second in the high jump at 1.52m.
•    Freshman Hope Hanafin (Burlington, Mass.) topped the field in the 500m race in 1:20.83, a new program record time.
•    Freshman Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.) took the 1000m in 3:13.34
•    Senior Tori Allen (Litchfield, N.H.) competed in four events, winning the high jump at 1.57m and setting a new PR in the 55 hurdles in 9.20 seconds.
•    SNHU's 4x4 team earned a win with the McInerney's, Hannafin and freshman Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) competing.
•    Sippel recorded a new PR for the 55m in 7.56 and also ran second in the 300m.
•    Junior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) qualified with a new PR in the 55m (7.49) and took second in the finals at 7.51.  She also ran fourth in the 300m (44.74).
•    Graduate student Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) finished second in the weight throw (15.22m) and third in the shot (11.97).
•    Junior Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.) also competed in the shot put (10.63m).
•    Sophomore Jordan Wheaton (Hooksett, N.H.) had a nice day with new PRs in three events.  She finished second in both the 55 hurdles (8.89) and high jump (1.52m).
•    Sophomore Madison Lyons (Manchester, Conn.) earned PRs in the long jump and shot put.  Her 4.90m in the long jump was good for fourth place on Saturday.
•    Freshman Ari Hettrick-Rivera (East Hampton, Conn.) finished in fourth with a mile run in 6:05.48.
•    Teammates sophomore Kayla Franks (Derry, N.H.) and senior Morgan Cooledge (Westbrook, Maine) both recorded new personal marks in the shot put for the second consecutive meet.

WHAT'S NEXT
•     The Penmen will head back to the Track at New Boston on January 11 for the Suffolk University Ice Breaker.
