SNHU opened the Outdoor Track & Field season, hosting the Spring Invitational on Saturday at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium. Penmen athletes won five events on the day.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- The javelin competition was won by SNHU senior Tori Limone (Stoneham, Mass.) with a throw of 38.00 m. Limone, who won the javelin at last year's Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship, has now won seven times in the event in her career.
- Sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) started the day with a win in the 3000m steeplechase in 12:00.59.
- Senior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) won the 1500m race with a time of 4:56.93.
- Senior Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) won the high jump in 1.57m and turned in a new PR with a throw of 27.50m in the javelin.
- SNHU also won the 4x400 relay with junior Tori Allen (Litchfield, N.H.), senior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.), senior Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine), and graduate student Anne Sikkema (Leeuwarden, Netherlands).
- Allen also finished second in the high jump at 1.52m.
- O'Rourke finished second in the steeplechase (12:31.56).
- McDermott finished third in the steeplechase (13:00.00).
- Sikkema finished fourth in both the 100m (13.43) and 200m (27.68), both new career marks.
- Senior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) was part of the second-place SNHU team in the 4x4 and also ran third in the 400m (1:02.98), a new personal best.
- Sophomore Jia Anderson-Salo (Alstead, N.H.) turned in a new PR in the 5000m at 20:53.87.
- Freshman Deirdre Bailat (Billerica, Mass.) wound up third in the 1500m at 5:03.99.
- Junior Morgan Cooledge (Westbrook, Maine) finished second in the javelin with a new PR of 35.01m.
- Freshman Kayla Franks (Derry, N.H.) was third in the javelin at 34.33m.
NOTES
- There was no team scoring for the meet, which included athletes from eleven other schools including Franklin Pierce University, Plymouth State University, and Colby-Sawyer College.
- Although SNHU does not have a Men's Track & Field team, several members of the cross-country team participated in the meet.
- Of note, sophomore Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) ran seventh in the 5000m (16:36.43).
- Freshman Brett Trainor (North Chelmsford, Mass.) ran the 800m, 1500m, and became the first to throw the javelin (39.21m).
WHAT'S NEXT
- The next meet for the Penmen will be next Saturday, April 6 with the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational at Fitchburg State.
- SNHU will host the 5th annual Penmen Relays at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium on Saturday, April 13.
