Three Weekly Awards For Track & Field

Bunnitt, Gravell, Wheaton Collect NE10 Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. -  Three members of the SNHU Women's Track & Field team have received weekly honors from the Northeast-10 after competing at the UNH Pre-Conference Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) was named the Track Athlete of the Week with a win in the 40 in 57.15, a season-best mark for her. It's the second-best time recorded in the NE10 and East Region this season. Gravell also finished eighth in the long jump - all against Division 1 competition.

Named the NE10 Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, senior Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) tuned up for the Northeast-10 Championships with strong efforts in all three of her events- the shot put, hammer throw, and discus. Bunnitt had an 11.89 in the shot, good for 8th place.

In her first long jump competition, freshman Jordan Wheaton (Hooksett, N.H.) finished 13th at the UNH Pre-Conference Invitational on Saturday. She went 1.42 m in the event and was named the Northeast-10 Field Rookie of the Week.

The Northeast-10 Conference Track & Field Championships will be held Friday and Saturday (May 3-4) at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn.  This year's championship is hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.   SNHU has won the last two Outdoor Championships.
