Men's Tennis Doubles Up District of Columbia, 4-2, in NCAA First Round

Junior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick), playing up a flight, was victorious at No. 2 singles to complete the comeback for the fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team, as it posted a 4-2 victory against the fourth-seeded University of the District of Columbia on Monday afternoon in an NCAA Championship first round match at the Queens (N.Y.) College Tennis Bubble.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Nadeau put the match away with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Louka Queguiner at No. 2 singles. He also teamed with senior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) to double up Louis Mangeon and Queguiner, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles.
  • With the Penmen trailing, 2-0, sophomore Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) put his team on the board by defeating Mauricio Corty, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
  • Sophomore Melvin Vix (Thionville, France) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 3 singles versus Antonio Durall.
  • Freshman Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) stepped in at No. 6 singles and notched a 6-4, 6-2 win over Juan Hernandez.
NOTES
  • Junior Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway), SNHU's typical No. 1, sat out due to injury.
  • Southern New Hampshire has won eight of 10 and four of five.
  • The Penmen, making their 11th appearance in the NCAA Championship, including third straight, improve to 4-10 (.286) all-time in the NCAA postseason.
  • SNHU evens the all-time series with the Firebirds, 1-1. It was the first meeting between the two teams since a 7-2 win for UDC in Manchester on March 14, 2015.
  • Williams improves to 4-0 in singles play in his rookie season.
