Five From Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Seniors Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.), Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.), Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) and Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.), as well as sophomore Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.), all of the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country and track & field teams, were recognized last week with spots on the Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.

Seamans, who was pursuing her graduate degree in professional accountancy and posted a 4.0 grade-point average, earns the honor for the second straight season and adds to her list of 2023-24 accolades that includes NE10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, NE10 Women's Cross Country Sport Excellence Award, NE10 Academic All-Conference (cross country, indoor track), NE10 Elite 24 Award (cross country, indoor track), United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East All-Region (cross country, indoor 3000m, outdoor 5000m, outdoor 10000m) and NE10 Women's Cross Country All-Conference First Team. She finished fourth at the NE10 Cross Country Championship (22:27.3), as well as eighth at the NCAA Cross Country East Regional Championship (22:16), while ranking third in the region in the outdoor 10000m (38:26.24), fourth in the outdoor 5000m (18:19.53), fifth in the indoor 3000m (10:29.20), seventh in the indoor 5000m (18:43.40) and eighth in the indoor mile (5:13.42).

O'Rourke, a USTFCCCA East All-Region (cross country, outdoor 3000m steeplechase), NE10 Women's Cross Country All-Conference Second Team and NE10 Academic All-Conference (cross country) selection, was an education for licensure major with a 3.93 GPA. She placed 14th at the NE10 Cross Country Championship (23:20.2) and was also 14th at the NCAA East Regional Championship (22:32.1), while ranking fourth in the region in the outdoor 3000m steeplechase (11:52.73).

Hallet wins the award for the second straight season and tacks on to her list of accolades from the year that includes USTFCCCA East All-Region (indoor pentathlon, outdoor high jump, outdoor heptathlon) and NE10 Academic All-Conference (indoor). She ranked fourth in the region in the outdoor heptathlon (4,028), fifth in the indoor pentathlon (2,906) and ninth in the indoor high jump (1.57m). Hallet was a psychology major with a 3.92 GPA.

Gravell, who also collects the honor for a second consecutive year, was a biology major with a 3.96 GPA. A USTFCCCA East All-Region (outdoor 400m) honoree, she placed second in the region in the outdoor 400m (56.83), sixth in the indoor 400m (58.57) and ninth in the outdoor long jump (5.52m).  

Obernesser, a justice studies major with a concentration in policing and law enforcement, owns a 3.53 GPA. This season, she was a USTFCCCA East All-Region (cross country, outdoor 3000m steeplechase) and NE10 Women's Cross Country All-Conference Second Team honoree. The NE10 outdoor champion in the steeplechase, Obernesser placed second in the region in the steeple (11:44.81), while slotting in ninth in the indoor 5000m (18:47.99). She was 13th at the NE10 Cross Country Championship (23:09.4) and 17th at the NCAA East Regional Championship (22:35.7)
