Obernesser Leads Penmen To Second-Place Finish at Hartford XC

Junior Delivers 5th-place finish Saturday

Results: Southern New Hampshire University – 2nd of 8 (62)

Junior Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) and freshman Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.) turned in top ten finishes and SNHU Women's Cross Country finished second at the season-opening Hartford Cross Country Invitational in Connecticut Saturday.

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Obernesser's time for the 3,000m race was 11:33.0, good for fifth place.
  • McInerney finished up in 11:58.1 in a strong debut for the Penmen, finishing seventh.
  • Freshman Kelsey Maine (Campton, N.H.) came in 12th at 12:20.7.
  • Sophomore Deirdre Bailat (North Billerica, Mass.) was next at 12:31.6 in 16th place.
  • Also scoring for the Penmen was freshman Ari Hettrick-Rivera (East Hampton, Conn.).  She was in 23rd place at 12:48.0.
NOTES
  • This was the first running of the new event at the University of Hartford and races were held for collegiate men and high school teams in addition to this race.  
  • Bentley was first of the eight women's teams (29 points).  SNHU finished ahead of Northeast-10 rival University of New Haven (92 points).
