Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) set a new program record in the weight throw and also won the shot put as SNHU Track & Field competed Saturday at meets in Gorham, Maine and Boston.
HIGHLIGHTS/ USM HUSKY INVITATIONAL
- Bunnitt had a 15.63m weight throw, eclipsing the mark set by Bennie Alula of 15.46m in December of 2021.
- Laila also won the shot put at 11.29m.
- Freshman Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) set a new PR in the 55m, finishing third in the final at 7.48 seconds. She was also part of a second-place 4x200 relay team with sophomore Madison Lyons (Mansfield, Conn.), freshman Paige Zimmerman (Bedford, N.H.), and junior Maggie McInerney (Acton, Mass.).
- Lyons set new personal marks with a 9.62 in the 55 hurdles and a 1.36m in the high jump.
- McInerney ran third in the 200m (26.85 seconds)
HIGHLIGHTS/RIVER HAWK INVITE
- Distance runners competed at The Track at New Balance, which will host the Northeast-10 Championships next month.
- Junior Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) set a new PR for the 3k at 10:33.77.
- Freshman Ari Hettrick-Rivera (East Hampton, Conn.) set a new PR for the 5k at 20:46.84.
WHAT'S NEXT
•   The Penmen are expected to send athletes to the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday and the Panther Invitational II at Plymouth State next Saturday.
