NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Sophomore
Vicente Preto (Sesimbra, Portugal) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team was chosen as the NE10 Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 19, the league office announced Tuesday.
Preto, who also earned the honor last Tuesday (Oct. 14), won both of his matches for men's tennis, as it edged Franklin Pierce University, 4-3, Saturday. Preto downed Ruben Minguez, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, at No. 1 singles to clinch the match and also combined with junior
Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 over Minguez and Martin Dominguez.
Preto is 8-1 in singles play this season, including 6-0 in dual matches and 5-0 in NE10 play. He is also 4-4 in doubles, including 3-2 in the league.
Preto and the Penmen will return to action Friday, Oct. 24 (3 p.m.) when they play host to Colby-Sawyer College at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
