Women's Indoor Track & Field Picked Second In Poll

Penmen Open Season Friday and Saturday

NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's indoor track and field team was picked second out of eight schools in the NE10 Coaches' Poll released Wednesday. The Penmen received one first-place vote and were selected just behind defending NE10 champion Southern Connecticut State University.

Southern Connecticut received seven of the eight first-place votes (coaches could not vote for their own teams) and totaled 49 points. SNHU followed with 32 points, narrowly ahead of Saint Anselm College with 31.

The indoor portion of the schedule begins Friday, when part of the SNHU squad will compete at Plymouth State. Other athletes will open their season Saturday at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. The NE10 Indoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled for Feb. 19–20 at The Track at New Balance in Boston.

The Penmen finished fourth at the championships last season.

Head coach Lex Butler, the only coach in program history since it launched in 2017, leads a roster of 26 athletes, including graduate student Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.), and seniors Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.) and Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.). Sinclair holds the program record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.91 seconds, set at last season's indoor championships. The team also welcomes 11 newcomers.
