Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) broke the program record for weight throw. Bunnitt, along with junior
Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) and freshman
Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) recorded wins Saturday at the Plymouth State Panther Invitational II.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Bunnitt won the weight throw at 15.91m, breaking her one-week old program record of 15.63m. It was also a new facility record at Plymouth State.
- Obernesser won the 5000m at 19:19.55.
- Sippel took on 400m for the first time this season, and won at the distance at 59.71 seconds.
- Freshman Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.) tried 800m for the first time, finishing second at 2:22.61.
- Sophomore Jordan Wheaton (Hooksett, N.H.) scored in two events. She finished second in the high jump at 1.46m, and ran 6th in the 60 hurdles and set a new PR of 9.71 in the prelims.
NOTES
- SNHU finished in fourth place at the meet with RPI winning the ten team competition. Keene State College was second with host Plymouth State in third. Franklin Pierce University finished one point behind the Penmen in fifth place.
- Sophomore Deirdre Bailat (No. Billerica, Mass.) wound up in 4th place in the 5000m (19:30.82).
- Sophomore Madison Lyons (Mansfield, Conn.) also earned five team points by finishing 4th in the long jump.
- Junior Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands) tried the 3000m for the first time - the longest she's run in competition - finished 6th in 11:17.72.
- In her first meet, freshman Erika Wojcik (North Andover, Mass.) finished in seventh place in the 800m at 2:30.29.
WHAT'S NEXT
• The Penmen will take part in the Showdown at the Heights, hosted by Boston College, next weekend at the Track at New Balance.
