NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Sophomore
Jojo Wallace (Milford, Conn.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team earned NE10 Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 8, the league office announced Monday.
Wallace, who previously won the award Jan. 26, averaged 25.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assist per game in a 2-0 week for SNHU, while knocking down 45.5 percent (20-44) of his shots, including 53.3 percent (8-15) from beyond the arc. Wallace connected on a career-high seven 3-pointers and notched a game-best 29 points (10-24 FG, 7-12 3-FG, 2-2 FT), while grabbing six rebounds, in Wednesday's 63-58 win at Saint Michael's College. He scored another game-high 21 points (10-20 FG, 1-3 3-FG) and made a pair of steals in a 66-65 victory versus Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday.
In 21 games this season Wallace is averaging 22.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest, while shooting 46.7 percent (178-381) from the field, 37.5 percent (36-96) from 3 and 72.7 percent (90-110) from the stripe. He leads the NE10 in scoring, field goals made and free throws made, while ranking ninth in 3-pointers made and in the top 20 in 3-point field goal percentage, steals, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and assists.
Wallace and the Penmen (10-12, 4-9 NE10) are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 10 (7:30 p.m.) when they take on cross-town rival Saint Anselm College.
