Men's Golf in Third After Opening Round of Penmen Spring Invitational

Freshman Gavin Richardson (Concord, N.H.) carded a 1-over 71 in the opening round of the Penmen Spring Invitational on Monday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is in third place – just four shots back – with 18 holes still to play Tuesday at Derryfield Country Club.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Richardson's 71 has him tied for sixth, just two strokes behind the leader.
  • Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) shot a 3-over 73 and is tied for 11th.
  • Junior Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.) and sophomore Charlie Blake (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with 4-over 74s.
NOTES
  • Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) had his 77 dropped from the team score.
  • Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.), playing as an individual, turned in a 74.
  • Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.), also playing as an individual, scored a 75.
  • Junior Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), another SNHU individual, submitted an 82.
  • Assumption University (288), at 8-over, leads Post University (291) and SNHU by three and four shots, respectively.
  • Bentley University's Jack Kantowski and Felician University's Carlos Ferreira lead the field by a single stroke at 1-under 69.
  • The Penmen Spring Invitational is comprised of 47 golfers from eight different institutions.
