NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Seven members of the SNHU Softball Team received Northeast 10 All-Conference recognition on Wednesday afternoon, highlighted by junior Julianna Colbert (Burrillville, R.I.) being named Pitcher of the Year.
Colbert has compiled an impressive 18-7 record with a league-leading 1.65 ERA. Her 219 strikeouts this season also lead the league and rank sixth in NCAA Division II. Colbert becomes the third SNHU athlete to be named Pitcher of the Year, joining Ali Maloof (2013, 2014, 2015) and Sarah Lavallee (2016).
Colbert is joined on the NE10 First Team by junior Kaysie DeMoura (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.). DeMoura leads SNHU and ranks sixth in the NE10 with a .378 batting average. She has 59 hits, including 11 doubles, a triple, and a home run. Lineman is a First Team selection for the second consecutive season after earning Third Team honors two years ago. She leads the Penmen with nine home runs, which ranks second in the conference, and has driven in 37 runs while batting a career-best .357.
Outfielders Alyssa Abbott (Hudson, N.H.) and Mikaya Alto (Chelmsford, Mass.) were named to the NE10 Second Team. Abbott is hitting .340 in 50 games this season with a .402 on-base percentage and earned All-Rookie Team honors last season. Alto, whose two-run walk-off double lifted the Penmen to a win over Saint Anselm on Tuesday, is hitting .345 with 28 RBIs and a .456 on-base percentage.
Selected to the All-Rookie Team were freshman Sophie Roussel (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshman Payton Bryson (Franklin, N.H.). Roussel has made 15 appearances in the circle, including 13 starts, compiling a 5-2 record with a 1.89 ERA. Bryson has made 49 starts this season and is hitting .247 with 39 hits.
The Penmen meet Adelphi on Thursday (3:30 p.m.) as the NE10 Championship Weekend begins at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H.
