Inigo Burusco (Pamplona, Spain) was named the NE10 Player of the Week, fifth year
Alvaro Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) claimed Goalkeeper of the Week honors, senior
Eduardo Maia (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week and freshman
Dani Bujanda (Pamplona, Spain) earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Burusco, who also earned the honor last week Aug. 31, scored a pair of goals and dished an assist for five points in a 2-0-0 week for SNHU. Burusco handed out a helper in a 3-0 win over Felician University on Wednesday, before striking twice in Saturday's 7-2 victory against Thomas Jefferson University. Burusco leads the NE10 in goals (5) and assists (11).
Garcia stopped all seven shots he faced over 150:54 in the two matches. Garcia notched a four-save clean sheet against Felician, before making all three saves he needed to in the opening 60:54 versus Jefferson. Garcia is 2-0-1 with a shutout, a 0.37 goals-against average (GAA) and .889 save percentage, having stopped eight of nine shots over 240:54. Garcia, who has a current shutout streak of 229:11, leads the NE10 in GAA and save percentage.
Maia helped anchor a back line that recorded a clean sheet, and limited opponents to two goals and 11 shots on target. He also scored a goal against Jefferson. The Penmen defense places second in the league in goals against and GAA.
Bujanda scored a goal in each match. He now has six points on two goals and two assists. Bujanda is tied for second in the league in points, and third in both goals and assists.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, Sept. 12 (1 p.m.) when they play host to Wilmington (Del.) University on Auburn Youth Soccer Day at Ouellette Stadium.
