Marc Hubbard Accepts Top Men's Soccer Spot at New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer coach Marc Hubbard has announced his resignation to accept a position as head men's soccer coach at the University of New Hampshire, SNHU Director of Athletics Anthony Fallacaro announced Saturday.  A national search for Hubbard's successor will begin immediately.

"Marc has done a truly remarkable job in returning our men's soccer program to the top of the Division II ranks and establishing it as the premier Division II program in the region," said Fallacaro.  "I want to thank him for his efforts over the past seven seasons and wish him the best of luck as he begins his new endeavor."

"I would like to thank President Paul LeBlanc, Anthony Fallacaro, Heather Lorenz and Patty Lynott for all of their support during my time at SNHU.  This has been the most difficult decision of my life because SNHU is such a great place to work but I couldn't give up the opportunity to work in my hometown and closer to my family," said Hubbard.  "The current SNHU Men's Soccer roster is filled with incredible talent and recruiting is in a very good place to help continue the wonderful tradition of winning championships at SNHU."

"It is with a very heavy heart that I leave such a wonderful community that provided me with my first head coaching opportunity.  I have enjoyed watching SNHU grow over my seven years and I know with great leadership, the school and athletics program will continue to be prominent on the national scene.  Thanks again for all of the memories and I will miss being a Penmen."

Named the seventh head coach in program history in January, 2008, Hubbard, a Durham, N.H. native and UNH assistant coach from 2003-07, enjoyed nothing but success in his seven seasons as head coach of the Penmen.  Hubbard compiled a 117-20-16 (.817) record, the top active winning percentage among Division II head coaches, and guided Southern New Hampshire to seven straight NCAA appearances, including four trips to the national quarterfinals in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.  In 2013, the Penmen captured the ultimate prize, winning the second NCAA Division II national championship in program history with a 22-1-1 record.  SNHU won four Northeast-10 Conference tournament titles (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014) and four regular season titles (2008, 2009, 2013, 2014) under Hubbard's watch.

The 2013 NSCAA Division II Coach of the Year, Hubbard was also named NE-10 Coach of the Year on three occasions, most recently in 2013.  During his tenure, the Penmen produced 17 Daktronics All-America and nine NSCAA All-America selections, while SNHU players won eight major Northeast-10 awards and were selected to All-Conference teams 62 times.

Hubbard's teams also performed in the classroom, as the Penmen have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award in each of the past two seasons.  Southern New Hampshire has had five Capital One Academic All-America selections over the past seven seasons, including three in 2014.
