EASTON, Mass. -
For the second time this season, junior Alex Brown
(Hudson, NH) posted the fastest time in Southern New Hampshire
University men's cross country history (27:32), as the SNHU men's
and women's cross country teams competed at the Northeast-10
Championship hosted by Stonehill College on Sunday morning.
THe men finished 10th out of 14 squads, while the women finished
12th out of 14 teams.
Brown, who earlier this season
established a school record by running a 27:47 at the Gordon
College Pop Crowell Invitational, bettered his own record by 15
seconds as he finished 34th overall. Junior Nick
Watts (Pittsfield, NH) finished 47th with a
collegiate-best time of 28:01, while Sam Tarrant
(Cleverdale, NY) was 91st with a 30:07 effort.
Spencer Rennick (Peabody, MA) finished 93rd, one
second behind Tarrant.
Michael Smith
(Lynnfield, MA) (30:42), Matt Caredeo (Salem, NH)
(32:39) and Steve Brown (Hudson, NH) (33:50)
rounded out the Penmen finishers.
Junior Svea
Dellea-Messner (Windham, NH) paced the women's squad as
she came in 59th overall with a 21:47 effort. Freshman
Melissa Hurley (Ashaway, RI) finished 62nd overall
with a time of 21:53, while Margaret Shields
(Smithfield, RI) came home 70th with a 22:03 effort.
Amanda Soares
(Woburn, MA) completed the 5K course in 23:44, while
Allison Trafton (Salem, NH) (26:08) and
Abby Fisher (Belchertown, MA) (31:29) rounded out
the SNHU finishers.
SNHU returns to action November 3
when it travels to Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, NY for the NCAA
Northeast Regional.
