MANCHESTER, N.H. - Freshman Sherry
Darrell (Bow, NH) registered four goals to lead Southern
New Hampshire University to a 15-9 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse
victory over Assumption College at Larkin Field Saturday
night. The Penmen evened their record at 1-1 overall and 1-0
in NE-10 play, while the Greyhounds are 0-3 and 0-1 in the league.
Darrell paced nine different SNHU
goal scorers. Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT)
totaled three goals and an assist, while Julie
Kraus (Derry, NH) added a goal and two assists while also
collecting seven ground balls and six draw controls.
Lucretia Joy (Portland, ME) had a pair of goals,
while Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) had a goal and
an assist. Alyssa Johnson (Nashua, NH)
handed out two assists.
Becca Kelley
(Westfield, MA) and Sarah Roos (Feeding Hills, MA)
each had three goals to pace Assumption while Emily
Morrell (Bethany, CT) finished with two goals.
SNHU never trailed and opened up a
4-0 lead just 7:17 into the contest following a goal by
Parent. The Penmen would take their largest lead of the first
half, 9-3, with 1:58 before halftime on a goal by Nicole
Downey (Rutland, VT) and extended that lead to 10-3 2:59
into the second half on a Darrell tally. Darrell's free
position goal 6:26 into the second half gave the hosts their
largest lead, 12-4.
Katie Clark
(Norwich, CT) made seven saves in goal for Southern New Hampshire
en route to the victory as the Penmen held a 41-34 shot
advantage. Greyhound netminder Lauren
Matysiak (Holden, MA) made 18 saves.
SNHU is slated to return to action
Sunday when it travels to Bates College for a 1:30 contest.
