LEWISTON, Maine - Host Bates College jumped out to an 11-6
halftime lead and posted a 17-12 women's lacrosse victory over
Southern New Hampshire University Sunday afternoon. The
Bobcats improved to 1-2 on the season while the Penmen now stand at
1-2 overall.

(Hinesburg, VT) led Southern New Hampshire with five goals and an
assist. Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA)
registered three goals and an assist, while Carole
Lee (Derry, NH) added two goals and an assist.
Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) notched a goal and an
assist while Lucretia Joy (Portland, ME) handed
out two assists.
Morgan Maciewicz led Bates with
four goals and an assist while Caroline Thomas added three goals
and an assist for the Bobcats.
Southern New Hampshire took a 4-3
lead 6:54 into the game on a goal by Lee, but the Bobcats scored
four unanswered goals to take a 7-4 lead at the 17:02 mark on an
Elizabeth Denver tally. The Penmen trailed 9-6 when Bates
scored two goals in the final 26 seconds to take an 11-6 halftime
advantage.
The Penmen drew within 12-8 5:10
into the second half following back-to-back goals by Rotolo.
Bates responded by scoring the next two goals and maintained at
least a five-goal lead the rest of the way.
Mara Krueger made 10 saves en route
to the win for Bates, which outshot Southern New Hampshire
40-25. Katie Clark (Norwich, CT) made 14
saves for the Penmen.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
Northeast-10 play Wednesday when it hosts crosstown rival Saint
Anselm College for a 4:00 contest.
