Women's Lacrosse Downs Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT) totaled three goals and three assists to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 12-8 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse victory over Saint Anselm College Wednesday evening at Larkin Field.  The Penmen improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Hawks are now 2-3 and 1-1 in the league.

Sherry Darrell (Bow, NH) scored a team-high four goals for Southern New Hampshire, which also got three goals from Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA).  Nicole Downey (Rutland, VT) notched a pair of goals, while Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA) handed out a pair of assists.

Courtney Ford (Concord, MA) led Saint Anselm with four goals while Michaela Rocha (Rye, NH) added three goals and an assist.

Ford gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead 5:08 into the game but Downey would score 2:19 later to tie the game, the first of four straight goals for the Penmen, with back-to-back goals by Darrell 28 seconds apart making it 4-1 with 16:13 left before halftime.  A goal by Meghan Ayers (Sayville, NY) made it 4-2 just past halfway, but SNHU scored the next three to take a 7-2 lead with just under seven minutes to go on a Parent tally.  The Penmen led 8-3 at halftime.

Southern New Hampshire took its largest lead on Darrell's third goal of the game 3:48 into the second half that made it 9-3.  The Hawks would get the lead down to three, 9-6, with just over 10 minutes to play on a Rocha score, but that would be as close as the visitors would get.

Katie Clark (Norwich, CT) made 12 saves between the pipes for Southern New Hampshire, which was outshot 28-24.  Katherine O'Hara (Norwell, MA) made six saves for Saint Anselm.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it travels to Bentley College for a 1:00 contest.  Saint Anselm also hits the road Saturday when it travels to Stonehill College for a 1:00 game.
