The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team completed its
two-game Long Island swing with a 9-3 loss to Dowling College at
Golden Lions Field Sunday afternoon. The Golden Lions
improved to 4-1 with the victory, while the Penmen are now 0-2
overall.
Scott Strong
(Naperville, IL) led the Penmen with three hits and a pair of runs
scored. Tim Rines (Northfield, NH) rapped a
pair of hits and drove in a run, while Ryan
Thompson (Westford, MA) was 1-4 with an RBI.
The hosts never trailed, jumping
out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning then scoring three more times
in the third to lead 4-0 after three. Southern New Hampshire
would plate solo runs in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings.
Mike Evans
(Seabrook, NH) took the loss for the Penmen, surrendering nine hits
in 2.2 innings of work and allowing four runs.
SNHU is idle until March 14 when it
faces East Stroudsburg University to kick off a six-game swing in
Fort Myers, FL.
