Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Franklin Pierce

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Carole Lee (Derry, NH) led 11 different Southern New Hampshire University players in the scoring column with three goals as the Penmen cruised to a 19-6 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse victory over Franklin Pierce University at Larkin Field Tuesday afternoon.  SNHU remained unbeaten in NE-10 play at 4-0 in the league and is 4-2 overall, while the Ravens are 1-2 and 0-1 in conference action.

Lee was one of seven Penmen to record multiple goals.  Jami Shugrue (Lowell, MA) totaled two goals and three assists for a team-high five points, while Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT), Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) and Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA) each had two goals and an assist.  Jenna Whittemore (Whiting, VT) and Alyssa Johnson (Nashua, NH) each scored twice.  Nicole Downey (Rutland, VT) notched a goal and three assists, while Sherry Darrell (Bow, NH) had a goal and two helpers.  Emmalee Willis (Hingham, MA) had a goal and an assist while Brittany Whiteway (Billerica, MA) added a goal.

Lauren Stille (North Quincy, MA) recorded all six Franklin Pierce goals on the afternoon.

SNHU jumped out to a 3-0 lead 5:32 into the contest on Whiteway's goal, but back-to-back goals by Stille, the second at the 23:22 mark of the first half, made it a 3-2 game.  From there, the Penmen took control, as they would close out the first half with eight unanswered goals to take a 10-2 halftime lead on a Shugrue tally.  The Penmen would maintain at least an eight goal lead the rest of the way.

Katie Clark (Norwich, CT) turned away 11 shots for Southern New Hampshire as the Penmen outshot Franklin Pierce 34-26.  Raven goalie Chanice Franklyn (Chappaqua, NY) turned aside nine Penmen attempts.

Southern New Hampshire kicks off a three-game Long Island swing when it faces Molloy College on the road Thursday at 4:00.
