BOX SCORE
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Top-ranked and defending Division II
national champion C.W. Post withstood a late Southern New Hampshire
University rally to post a 15-10 women's lacrosse victory Sunday
afternoon. The Pioneers remained upbeaten at 7-0 on the
season, while the Penmen are now 5-4 overall.
Carole Lee (Derry,
NH) led Southern New Hampshire with seven goals, while
Emmalee Willis (Hingham, MA) registered a pair of
goals. Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) recorded
two assists, while Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT)
had the other Penmen tally. Lucretia Joy
(Portland, ME) handed out a pair of assists.
Jaclyn Napoli led C.W. Post with
two goals and five assists.
SNHU trailed 10-2 at halftime and
saw the hosts extend their lead to 12-2 early in the second half
before scoring five straight goals, capped by a Willis tally with
12:36 left to pull within 12-7. The Pioneers scored the next
to increase their lead to seven, but three straight SNHU goals,
capped by Parent's goal with exactly three minutes left, would make
it 14-10, but that would be as close as the guests would get.
Southern New Hampshire took 1-0 and
2-1 leads early, but C.W. Post scored the final nine goals of the
first half to take a 10-2 lead at halftime.
Katie Clark
(Norwich, CT) made 10 saves for Southern New Hampshire, which was
outshot 34-18 by C.W. Post.
SNHU returns to Northeast-10 play
Tuesday when it hosts Southern Connecticut State University at
4:00.
