MANCHESTER, N.H. - Visiting Southern New Hampshire University posted a pair of one-run victories to sweep Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 baseball by scores of 4-3 and 7-6 (11 innings) Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Park.  The Penmen improve to 6-20 and 4-14 in the NE-10, while the Hawks are now 10-18 and 6-11 in the league.

In game two, the Penmen rallied from a 6-3 deficit and scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to force extra innings.  In the ninth, Ryan Thompson (Westford, MA) led off by drawing a walk and advanced to third when Bill Murray (Canton, MA) hit a one-out single.  Thompson scored on a single by Skyler Byrd (Milford, NH), while Murray scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Chris O'Neil (Chelmsford, MA).

Southern New Hampshire scored the winning run in the top of the 11th when Murray led off with a single.  Byrd would reach on a bunt single, and both runners would advance on a passed ball.  O'Neil would lift a sac fly to left that scored Murray.  Greg Lyons (Canton, MA) would come on in relief of winning pitcher Mike Evans (Seabrook, NH) and retire the final two batters to earn the save.

Byrd finished the nightcap with four hits and drove in three runs, including a double in the fifth that scored Tim Rines (Northfield, NH).  O'Neil also finished with three RBI, as his triple in the third plated Murray for SNHU's second run.  Murray also finished with two hits.

In the opener, SNHU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when a double by Byrd brought home Rines.  The Penmen took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Jeff Giannino (Beverly, MA) belted a solo home run.  Saint Anselm would score three times in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of four hits and a Penmen error.

Southern New Hampshire would score twice in the top of the eighth to nail down the win.  O'Neil led off with a single and after Giannino walked, the duo was bunted over by Scott Strong (Naperville, IL).  Koby Thibault (Salisbury, MA) tied the game when he lifted a fly ball to right to score O'Neil.  Giannino would score the winning run when Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA) singled to center.

Byrd, Thibault and Pelletier all finished with two hits apiece in the opener.  Ryan Quinn (Lebanon, CT) earned the win, going seven innings and scattering nine hits.  Evans earned the save for SNHU, working the final two innings and allowing just one hit while allowing three.

SNHU hosts Saint Anselm for a single game Sunday at 1:00.
