MANCHESTER, N.H. - No. 8 Franklin Pierce University swept Southern New Hampshire University by scores of 13-2 and 7-2 in a Northeast-10 baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon.  The Ravens improved to 28-7-1 overall and 13-5-1 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen are now 6-25 and 4-18 in the league.

SNHU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the nightcap.  Bill Murray (Canton, MA) would work a two-out walk and after stealing second, scored on a single to right-center by Chris O'Neil (Chelmsford, MA).  The Ravens would score single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before scoring three times in the seventh and two more in the eighth.  The other Penmen run came in the bottom of the seventh, when Scott Strong (Naperville, IL) led off with a single and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

Kevin Renaud had four hits for Franklin Pierce in game two, while Randy Bernosky had a pair of hits, including a solo home run to lead off the seventh.  Tyler Sykes fanned 10 in five innings of work to pick up the win, while Greg Lyons (Canton, MA) surrendered just one earned run in 6.2 innings of work for SNHU and was tabbed with the loss.

In the opener, FPU broke open a 3-2 game with three runs in the fifth, three more in the sixth and four in the seventh.  SNHU scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third when with the bases loaded, Raven hurler Brian Maloney unleashed a wild pitch and catcher Jacob Ferreira committed a throwing error to score Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA) and Ryan Thompson (Westford, MA).

Renaud was 3-3 with two RBI for Franklin Pierce, which also got a 2-4, three RBI effort from Derek Ingui.  Murray had two of SNHU's four hits in the opener.  Vinny Gemma pitched 4.2 innings of relief for starter Maloney to earn the win.
