BOX SCORE

WORCESTER, Mass. - Chris O'Neil (Chelmsford, MA) belted a grand slam as part of a 10-run seventh inning as Southern New Hampshire University posted a 14-9 Northeast-10 baseball victory over Assumption College at Rocheleau Field Wednesday afternoon.  The Penmen, who snapped an eight-game slide with the win, improved to 3-14 and 1-8 in NE-10 play, while the Greyhounds are now 8-11 and 1-4 in the league.

All nine members of the SNHU starting lineup had a hit as the Penmen banged out 17 hits on the afternoon.  Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA) went 3-4, all doubles, with three RBI, while Bill Murray (Canton, MA) had three hits and two runs batted in.  Tim Rines (Northfield,  NH), Scott Strong (Naperville, IL) and Koby Thibault (Salisbury, MA) all had two hits apiece, with Strong driving in a pair of runs.

SNHU entered the top of the seventh tied 3-3 when it scored 10 times in the seventh.  Pelletier led off the inning with a double and after being bunted to third, scored on a Murray single.  The next batter, Ryan Thompson (Westford, MA), doubled, and after Jeff Giannino (Beverly, MA) was hit by a pitch, Skyler Byrd (Milford, NH) singled with the bases loaded to plate Murray.

O'Neil greeted Assumption reliever Josh Thompson by belting the first pitch Thompson threw over the fence in right-center to give the Penmen a 9-3 lead.  Pelletier would later deliver a two-run double and Rines and Ryan Thompson would also deliver RBI hits to complete the scoring barrage.

The Penmen took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when a single by Strong scored Byrd.  After falling behind 3-1, SNHU tacked on two runs in the fourth courtesy an RBI double by Strong and a sac fly by Pelletier to score Strong.  The guests scored their other run in the ninth when Pelletier led off with a double and was driven in by Murray.

Ryan Quinn (Lebanon, CT) earned the win on the mound by working seven innings, scattering nine hits and fanning four.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Thursday when it travels to American International College for a 3:30 contest.
