LOWELL, Mass. -
UMass Lowell scored 12 times combined in the seventh and ninth
innings to take a 13-0 Northeast-10 baseball victory over Southern
New Hampshire University at LeLacheur Park Sunday afternoon.
The River Hawks completed a season sweep of the Penmen and improve
to 11-14 and 8-3 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 4-17 and
2-11 in NE-10 play.
UMass Lowell held a 1-0 lead when
it scored in the top of the third (SNHU was playing as the home
team). The River Hawks would pull away by scoring seven times
in the seventh inning then tacking on five more runs in the top of
the ninth.
Ryan Thompson
(Westford, MA) had two of SNHU's four hits while Bill
Murray (Canton, MA) and Chris O'Neil
(Chelmsford, MA) had the other Penmen hits. Ryan
Quinn (Lebanon, CT) took the loss for SNHU, working
6.1 innings, allowing four hits and five runs.
SNHU returns to action Tuesday when
it travels to Southern Connecticut State University for a 3:00
