MANCHESTER, N.H. - Lucretia Joy
(Portland, ME) tallied four goals and four assists as No. 10
Southern New Hampshire University scored a season-high 20 goals en
route to a 20-9 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse victory over Saint
Michael's College at Larkin Field Tuesday afternoon. The
Penmen improved to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in NE-10 play, while the
Purple Knights are now 5-3 and 3-2 in the league.
Joy paced eight Southern New
Hampshire players in the scoring column. Libby
Parent (Hinesburg, VT) totaled four goals and three
assists, while Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA)
registered four goals as well. Sherry
Darrell (Bow, NH) notched three goals and an assist while
Carole Lee (Derry, NH) posted two goals and an
assist. Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) dished
out five assists and added a goal for six points, while
Nikki Downey (Rutland, VT) and Julie
Kraus (Derry, NH) each added a goal and an assist.
Brynne Curran (Cape Elizabeth, ME)
and Kim Berlo (Scituate, MA) each tallied three goals to pace Saint
Michael's.
Southern New Hampshire led the
entire way and raced out to a 7-1 lead just 12:26 into the contest
following back-to-back goals by Rotolo. The Penmen took an
11-4 lead with just over eight minutes left on a Joy tally and led
11-5 at halftime. The hosts would maintain at least an
five-goal lead throughout the second half and sealed the win by
scoring four of the game's last five goals.
Katie Clark
(Norwich, CT) earned the win in net for Southern New Hampshire,
turning aside eight shots as the Penmen held a 35-25 shot
advantage. Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, RI) made nine saves for
the guests.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action a week from Tuesday when it hosts American International
College in a 4:00 game at Larkin Field.
