WENHAM, Mass. -
Sophomore Emma Lundberg (Hebron, N.H.) of the
Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team
posted a school-record time of 19:03 to record a third-place finish
at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College Saturday
morning. As a team, the Penmen finished eighth out of 25 schools.
Lundberg bettered her own 5K school
record of 19:17 established two weeks ago at the UMass Dartmouth
Invitational, and has posted the three fastest times in program
history the last three weeks. She finished eight seconds back
of race winner Randelle Boots of Wellesley.
Junior Melissa
Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) was the next highest Penmen
finisher, as she placed 31st in the field of 290 with a
time of 20:34. Jacquelyn Dussault
(Manchester, N.H.) finished 14 seconds back of Hurley to finish
38th overall. Christina
Montefusco (Danvers, Mass.) was 43rd with a
time of 20:58, while Laura Durvin (North Scituate,
R.I.) was 161st with a time of 23:50.
The SNHU women's cross country team
returns to action next Saturday when it competes at the New England
Championship at Boston's Franklin Park.
