MANCHESTER, N.H. - Jennifer Parro
(Ipswich, MA) tied her own single-game school record with six
assists and totaled seven points to lead Southern New Hampshire
University to a 19-5 women's lacrosse victory over Molloy College
Sunday afternoon. The Penmen evened their record at 2-2
overall, while the Lions slip to 2-3 on the campaign.
Parro tied her own record set three
times, the most recent during the 2007 season. Libby Parent
(Hinesburg, VT) led the Penmen in the scoring column with four
goals, while Maura
Murphy (Candia, NH) totaled three goals and an
assist. Carole
Lee (Derry, NH) finished with two goals and two
assists, while Sherry Darrell (Bow,
NH) and Emily
Mongeau (Westborough, MA) each had a pair of
goals. Lucretia Joy
(Portland, ME) notched a goal and two assists, while freshmen
Kelly
Curran (Arlington, MA) and Sara Halbich (Salem,
NH) recorded their first collegiate goals. Julie Kraus (Derry, NH)
finished with eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Rebecca LaFlare led Molloy with a
pair of goals, while Erin Brady notched two assists.
Southern New Hampshire jumped out
to a 5-0 lead just 8:34 into the game on Parro's lone goal of the
game, then after a free position tally by Molloy's Lori Sollitto,
the Penmen would scored the next five goals to take an 11-1 lead on
a goal by Parent with 9:26 left in the first half. SNHU led
13-3 at halftime and maintained a double-digit advantage the entire
second half.
Katie Clark
(Norwich, CT) played the first 41:23 in goal for SNHU and made four
saves while allowing four goals. Hannah Moriarty
(Chelmsford, MA) stopped five shots and allowed one goal the rest
of the way. Alicia Frisch allowed 11 goals in 26:07 of action
for Molloy and made eight saves to take the loss. The hosts
outshot the Lions 37-19.
Southern New Hampshire opens
Northeast-10 play when it entertains Assumption College for a 4:00
contest at Larkin Field Tuesday.
NOTES: Parent,
SNHU's all-time point leader, is one point shy of 200 for her
career...she has 134 goals and 65 career assists...the Penmen fell
16-15 at Molloy last season.
