Women's Lacrosse Downs Assumption 21-9

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Eleven different players reached the scoring column for Southern New Hampshire University as the Penmen defeated Assumption College 21-9 in Northeast-10 women's lacrosse Tuesday afternoon at Larkin Field.  SNHU won its second straight to improve to 3-2, while it marked the season opener for the Greyhounds.

Carole Lee (Derry, NH) led Southern New Hampshire with four goals, while Jade Antonangeli (Bourne, MA) finished with three goals and an assist.  Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA) and Alyssa Johnson (Nashua, NH) each notched two goals and an assist, while Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT), Maura Murphy (Candia, NH) and Kelly Curran (Arlington, MA) each had two goals.  With the two goals, Parent became the first player in SNHU history to record 200 career points.

Erin Theriault and Meaghan Gallagher led Assumption with two goals apiece.

Southern New Hampshire never trailed as Murphy got the Penmen on the board 28 seconds into the game and the hosts scored the game's first three goals.  Leading 12-3, SNHU scored three goals in the span of 1:10 late in the first half and a free position goal by Parent with 17 seconds left made it 15-5 at intermission.  The Penmen scored the first two goals of the second half and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, MA) played the first half in goal for Southern New Hampshire and made three saves before giving way to Katie Clark (Norwich, CT), who also made three saves in the second half.  Julie Verbic stopped 12 shots for Assumption as the Penmen outshot the Greyhounds 46-15.

With Wednesday's scheduled game at Saint Anselm postponed, SNHU is idle until March 27 when it hosts Dowling for a 5:00 contest.

NOTES: Murphy is now one goal shy of 100 for her career...she would become the second Penmen player to reach the mark, as Parent reached it last year...with the Saint Anselm postponement, SNHU is now scheduled to play its first eight games at home.
