WORCESTER, Mass. - Host Assumption College scored the
game's only run in the sixth inning to post a 1-0 Northeast-10
baseball victory over Southern New Hampshire University Wednesday
afternoon. The Greyhounds improved to 10-8 overall and 4-1 in
the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 6-9 and 3-1 in the league.
Assumption would scrape together
its only run in the sixth. Derek Migrants hit a one-out
double to left-center, and after the next batter struck out, Tim
Scafidi singled down the right field line to score Migrants.
Scafidi led Assumption with three
hits while Migrants had a pair. Bob Wronski
(Arlington, MA) had a double for SNHU, while Chris
O'Neil (Chelmsford, MA), Skyler Byrd
(Milford, NH) and Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA)
each had single hits for the Penmen. Bryant
Gauthier (Lynn, MA) took the loss on the mound, allowing
eight hits in six innings of work, striking out six while not
walking a batter.
SNHU returns to action Thursday
afternoon when it entertains Franklin Pierce University in its home
opener. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30.
