EAST HARTFORD, Conn.
- The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis
team, currently ranked fourth in the ITA East Region, opened its
spring season with a 7-2 win over Pace University Friday. The
Penmen improved to 3-0 overall and in the Northeast-10 with the
win, while the Setters are now 0-4 overall and in the league.
At No. 1 singles, SNHU sophomore
Amber Chandronnait (Bow, NH) posted a 6-1, 4-6,
6-2 win over reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Year Natalia
Subotic of Pace. Also posting singles wins for the Penmen
were Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) at No. 2,
Lauren Nigrelli (Westerly, RI) at No. 3,
Alison Waring (Westboro, MA) at No. 4 and
Christie Cole (East Haven, CT) at No. 6.
In doubles play, Chandronnait and
Echeverry posted an 8-4 win at No. 1 and Nigrelli and Waring were
8-5 winners at No. 2.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action March 20 when it travels to Stonehill College for a 3:00
match.
