Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sherry Darrell (Bow, NH) led a balanced Southern New Hampshire University attack with two goals and three assists as the Penmen posted an 18-7 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse win over American International College at John Homer Miller Field Saturday afternoon.  SNHU, which has now won at least 10 games in each of the past three seasons, improved to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets are 3-9 and 1-6 in the league.

Darrell is now just one point shy of 100 for her career.  The Penmen got goals from 13 different players on the afternoon, with Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) finishing with two goals and two assists, while Emily Mongeau (Westborough, MA) had two goals and an assist.  Julie Kraus (Derry, NH) and Karyn Sampson (Kingston, MA) each scored twice.

Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA), Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT) and Sara Halbich (Salem, NH) each totaled a goal and an assist for the Penmen.  Southern New Hampshire also got single tallies from Lucretia Joy (Portland, ME), Brittany Whiteway (Billerica, MA), Carole Lee (Derry, NH), Jade Antonangeli (Bourne, MA) and Alyssa Johnson (Nashua, NH).  Katie Warner led American International with three goals and an assist.

Southern New Hampshire put the game away early, scoring five times in the first 5:28 before the Yellow Jackets scored twice to cut the lead to 5-2 with 19:33 to go in the first half.  The Penmen would score the final nine goals of the first half to lead 14-2 at halftime, then scored four more times to build their lead to 18-2 with 20:20 to play on Lee's goal.

Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, MA) went the distance in goal for Southern New Hampshire and turned aside 10 shots as the Penmen outshot the Yellow Jackets 34-20.  Gina Gallo made 11 saves in the first 50:05 for AIC, taking the loss.

Southern New Hampshire closes out the regular season Tuesday when it travels to Saint Michael's College for a 4:00 contest.
