Women's Lacrosse Runs Past Saint Michael's 18-3

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Sherry Darrell (Bow, NH) totaled three goals and three assists, notching her 100th career point in the process, as Southern New Hampshire recorded an 18-3 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse win over Saint Michael's College Tuesday afternoon.  The Penmen wrapped up the regular season with an 11-4 overall record and a 8-2 NE-10 mark, while the Purple Knights are now 3-10 and 3-6 in the league.

Darrell led a total of 10 SNHU players who reached the scoring column on the afternoon.  Laura Rotolo (Waltham, MA) finished with three goals and an assist, while Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, MA) notched two goals while handing out three assists.  Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT) registered two goals and an assist while Jami Shugrue (Lowell, MA) and Carole Lee (Derry, NH) each scored twice.  Maura Murphy (Candia, NH) totaled a goal and two assists while Jenna Whittemore (Whiting, VT), Kaley Waterman (Berwick, ME) and Emily Mongeau (Westborough, MA) each added single tallies.

Kim Berlo paced Saint Michael's with a goal and an assist.

Mongeau got the Penmen on the board just 58 seconds into the game, but Lauren Rizzotti would tie the game 1-1 with 24:17 to play in the first half.  From there it was all Southern New Hampshire, as the guests scored the final seven goals of the first half to take an 8-1 halftime lead, then scored the first nine goals of the second half to go up 17-1 with 13:16 to play on a Rotolo tally.

Katie Clark (Norwich, CT) and Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, MA) each played a half in goal for the Penmen and combined to make five saves as SNHU outshot Saint Michael's 24-9.  Meghan McLaughlin played the first 30 minutes in goal for the Purple Knights and made three saves.

Southern New Hampshire has assured itself of finishing no lower than third in the final NE-10 standings.  The Penmen will either host a first round Northeast-10 Tournament game on Tuesday, April 28 or should they earn a bye, play in a semifinal contest on Saturday, May 1.
