Four From Softball Earn Northeast-10 All-Conference Honors.

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Four members of the Southern New Hampshire University softball team have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference all-conference team, it was announced Friday afternoon.  Seniors Nicole Arpin (Cheshire, CT) and Ashley Bernstein (Stoughton, MA) and sophomore Kelsey Griffin (Scarborough, ME) were Second Team selections, while Karissa Bettencourt (Norton, MA) was named to the league's Third Team.

Arpin was one of two players to start all 45 games this season.  She batted a team-high .304 with five home runs and a team-high 24 runs batted in.  Arpin recorded 10 multi-hit games on the season and was named Northeast-10 Player of the Week on April 20 after she batted .462 in a 6-2 week, capping off the week with three home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Molloy.

Bernstein played in all 45 games this season and was in the strating lineup 44 times as she became SNHU's all-time leader in games played.  Her .301 batting average placed her second on the squad while she hit five home runs and drove in 16 runs on the season.  As a pitcher she ranked third with five victories while her 38 strikeouts were second on SNHU.

Griffin, in her first season with the Penmen, established herself as one of the NE-10's top pitchers.  She posted a 1.65 earned run average in 20 appearances (10 starts), placing her fifth in the conference in ERA, while she struck out 89 in 89 innings of work en route to a 6-4 record.  Griffin ranked 10th in the NE-10 in strikeouts while her .227 opponent batting average was ninth-best in the league.

Bettencourt, who earned Northeast-10 All-Conference accolades for the third time in her career, started all 45 games and had two home runs and 14 runs batted in while batting .250 with 19 runs scored, second on the squad.  She also had a team-high 14 outfield assists from her center field position.

The SNHU softball team finished fifth in the Northeast-10 with a 17-11 conference record and earned a berth in the NE-10 Tournament for the third time in four seasons.
