GOFFSTOWN, N.H. -
The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team opened
its 2009-10 season with a 6-3 win over Holy Family University in a
match played at the YMCA Allard Center on Saturday. The
visiting Tigers fell to 1-1 on the season.
SNHU took down wins in four of six
singles matches and two doubles tilts. Junior Amber
Chandronnait (Bow, N.H.), the reigning Northeast-10 Player
of the Year, was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles, while freshman
Lena Mukadaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) prevailed
6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Senior Alison Waring
(Westborough, Mass.) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at the No. 5 position,
while sophomore Kara Pease (Falmouth, Mass.) was a
6-3, 6-4 winner at No. 6.
Mukadaprakorn and junior
Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) were 8-0
winners at second doubles, while Waring and sophomore
Samantha Jean (Bedford, N.H.) were 8-0 winners at
third doubles.
The SNHU women 's tennis team
returns to action next weekend when it travels to the ITA East
Regionals in Philadelphia. Chandronnait is the defending
singles champion at that event.
