North Dartmouth,
Mass. - Sophomore Emma Lundberg
(Vinalhaven, Maine ) of the Southern New Hampshire University
women's cross country team established a new 5K school record at
the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Penmen squad placed 20th out of the
40 team field.
Lundberg finished 35th
in the field of 301 with a time of 19:17, shattering the previous
mark of 19:48 established by Vanessa Picone at the 2004
Northeast-10 Championship. Junior Melissa
Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) placed 90th with a time
of 20:20. Sophomore Jacquelyn Dussault
(Manchester, N.H.) finished with a time of 20:45, good enough for
123rd.
Rounding out the Penmen finishers
were freshmen Christina Montefusco (Danvers,
Mass.) with a time of 21:10 and Laura Durvin
(North Scituate, R.I.) with a time of 25:03.
The Penmen race back into action on
September 26th when they will participate in the Codfish
Bowl, an annual event at Franklin Park in Boston, MA. The
race will begin at 11:00 AM.
