WENHAM, Mass.
– The Southern New Hampshire University women's cross
country team tied for first out of 26 schools at the Gordon College
Pop Crowell Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Penmen, who
took four of the race's top 20 places, tied for first with
Salve Regina University.
Junior Emma
Lundberg (Hebron, N.H.) led Southern New Hampshire with an
18:52 five-kilometer effort to finish second overall among 276
runners. It marks her second-best time as a collegian and the
second best mark in SNHU program history.
Melissa Hurley
(Ashaway, R.I.) finished 13th overall with a 19:49
effort, a personal best for her and the ninth-fastest time in
program history. Madeline Hayes (Newington,
Conn.) finished one second behind Hurley to place 14th
overall. Christina Montefusco (Danvers,
Mass.) posted a time of 20:03 to place 20th.
Christina Powell
(Granby, Mass.) posted a time of 20:41 to finish 41st
overall, while Jacquelyn Dussault (Manchester,
N.H.) was 86th with a time of 21:45.
Kelsey Parker (Billerica, Mass.) posted a time of
22:14, while Cassandra Dolan (Manchester, N.H.)
finished in 24:02. Laura DiPietro (Auburn,
N.H.) rounded out the Penmen finishers with a time of 26:21.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action next Saturday at the New England Championship at
Boston's Franklin Park.
