COLONIE,
N.Y. – Junior Emma Lundberg
(Hebron, N.H.) finished first overall to lead the Southern New
Hampshire University women's cross country team to a second
place finish out of eight schools at the Golden Knights Joust held
Friday at Crossings of Colonie.
Lundberg, who
captured first place in a race for the second time this season,
posted a time of 18:42 for the three-mile event, besting Bentley
University's Ashley Nichols by 14 seconds. She also
finished first earlier this season at the Shacklette
Invitational.
Melissa
Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) was the next-highest finisher for
the Penmen, finishing 13th in the 66-runner field with a
time of 19:48. Christina Montefusco
(Danvers, Mass.) finished 16th overall with a 20:16
effort, while freshman Christina Powell (Granby,
Mass.) and Madeline Hayes (Newington, Conn.)
posted times of 20:50 and 20:56, respectively to place
28th and 29th.
Jacquelyn Dussault (Manchester, N.H.) posted a
21:21 effort to place 35th, while Kelsey
Parker (Tewksbury, Mass.) traversed the course in
22:56. Laura DiPietro (Auburn, N.H.)
registered a time of 24:27, while Cassandra Dolan
(Manchester, N.H.) finished eight seconds back of DiPietro.
SNHU returns to
action Sunday, November 7 when it competes at the Northeast-10
Championship hosted by Stonehill College.
