EASTON, Mass.
– The Southern New Hampshire University women's cross
country team posted its best-ever finish at the Northeast-10
Championship held Sunday at Stonehill College. As a team, the
Penmen finished tied for sixth out of 16 schools, while junior
Emma Lundberg (Hebron, N.H.) became SNHU's
first-ever All-Conference performer in women's cross country,
finishing eighth overall to garner Second Team honors.
Lundberg, who has been named
Northeast-10 Athlete of the Week five times this season, finished
the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:53 to finish eighth, 51
seconds behind individual race winner Jeputi Cherutich of American
International College.
Senior Melissa
Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) was the next-highest SNHU finisher,
coming in 51st in the 156-runner race with a time of
20:04. Sophomore Christina Montefusco
(Danvers, Mass.) finished 57th overall with a 20:18
effort, while freshman Madeline Hayes (Newington,
Conn.) finished one spot back of Montefusco with a time of
20:19.
Christina Powell
(Granby, Mass.) ran a 21:16 to place 89th, while
Jacquelyn Dussault (Manchester, N.H.) posted a
time of 21:45. Kelsey Parker (Tewksbury,
Mass.) (22:01), Cassandra Dolan (Manchester, N.H.)
(24:07) and Laura DiPietro (Auburn, N.H.) (24:38)
rounded out the Penmen finishers.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action in two weeks on Sunday, November 21, when it competes at the
NCAA East Regional at Boston's Franklin Park.
