BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Southern New
Hampshire University women's lacrosse team fell to #2 C.W.
Post by an 18-4 final score Saturday afternoon. The Penmen
fall to 0-1 on the season while the Pioneers improve to 1-0.
The Pioneers jumped out to a four goal lead until Maura
Murphy (Candia, N.H.) scored the first goal of the game
for the Penmen with 5:11 remaining in the first half, bringing the
score to 4-1. SNHU added two goals to begin the second half,
with Murphy and Brittany Whiteway (Billerica,
Mass.) scoring consecutively to bring the score to 7-3. C.W.
Post would score seven unanswered goals until Emily
Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) recorded an unassisted tally
with 5:30 remaining in the game.
Ashley Olen set the pace for the Pioneers, scoring five goals
and collecting a team-high four ground balls.
Lauren Spagnoletta, Brianne Jackolski, Kim
Williams, and Ashley Janelli each had two goal games for C.W. Post.
Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) made 16
saves on 49 total shots, while her counterpart Sam Powers stopped
four shots.
The Penmen return to action at home on March 15 against American
International College in a 4:00 p.m. contest at Larkin Field.
