SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sherry
Darrell (Bow, N.H.) set single-game program records in
goals and points for the second time this season, totaling nine
goals and four assists en route to a 24-9 Southern New Hampshire
University victory against Converse College. With the win the
Penmen better their record to 3-2 overall, while the loss drops the
Valkyries to 3-9 on the season.
Southern New Hampshire held a 7-0 lead with 18:22 remaining in
the first half and would not look back, holding a commanding 15-4
lead at halftime. In addition to Darrell, Maura
Murphy (Candia, N.H.) contributed five goals and three
assists, Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) added
three goals, Carole Lee (Derry, N.H.) totaled two
goals and two assists, Jade Antonangeli (Bourne,
Mass.) added two goals, and Kelly Curran
(Arlington, Mass.) and Jami Shugrue (Lowell,
Mass.) both tallied a goal and an assist. Sara
Halbich (Salem, N.H.) added a goal to round out the
scoring for the Penmen.
Converse was led by Bridget Dullea, who totaled four goals and
an assist for the Valkyries.
Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) earned the
win in net for the Penmen, recording 12 saves. Converse
goaltender Molly Donaghue registered ten saves as Southern New
Hampshire outshot Converse 39-33.
Southern New Hampshire returns to Northeast-10 conference play
on Wednesday, traveling to Stonehill College for a 4:00 p.m.
matchup.
