MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New
Hampshire University baseball team fell to the Warriors of
Merrimack College by a score of 5-0 Tuesday afternoon. With
the victory, Merrimack improves to 12-10 and 7-8 in conference
play. The Penmen fall to 13-17 and 6-7 in conference play.
Tim Curran's RBI single in the fourth inning began the scoring
for the Warriors, as his line drive was preceded by two
errors. The big inning for the Warriors was the fifth inning,
where Brendan Pyburn's two-RBI triple and Matt Hogan's two-run home
run to left field concluded the scoring for Merrimack on the
afternoon.
John
Pickowicz (Hill, N.H.) pitched eight innings for the
Penmen, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, two walks,
and a strikeout. A.J. Dusablon (Burlington,
Vt.) pitched a scoreless inning of relief, striking out one.
Merrimack's Ryan O'Rourke pitched a complete game victory, allowing
only three hits while striking out 12 Penmen hitters.
The Penmen travel to Rindge, N.H. tomorrow as they will face off
against Franklin Pierce in a 3:30 p.m. contest. Southern New
Hampshire returns home this Saturday as they will oppose Saint Rose
in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Penmen Field.
