RINDGE, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire
University Penmen fell to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University
5-3 at Pappas Field on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10
baseball. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 13-18 and 6-8 in the
Northeast-10 Conference, while the win betters the Ravens to 23-10
overall and 11-4 in the NE-10.
Franklin Pierce scored what would be the eventual winning run in
the sixth when Mike Munoz scored on a single by Nick LaCroix. In
the seventh, the Ravens tacked on another run as Munoz knocked in
Cody Kauffman with a two-out single.
Franklin Pierce would score first in the bottom of the first
inning on a double by Mike Dowd, scoring Kauffman. The Ravens
would notch a second run on an RBI groundout by Munoz, scoring
Dowd. Dowd would score again in the third inning after
singling to left field and scoring on a single by Munoz.
Southern New Hampshire would tack on their first run in the top
of the second when Brandon Dutch reached on an error, stole second,
advanced to third on a groundout by Matt Boulter (Wrentham,
Mass.), and stole home on a wild pitch. The Penmen would add
two more runs in the top of the fourth, as Tim Rines (Merrimack,
N.H.) doubled to left field and advanced to third on a single by
Brandon
Dutch (Monroe, Conn.). Both would score on a
Kevin
Spatkowski (Bristol, Conn.) triple.
Steven
Golbranson (Abington, Mass.) took the loss on the
mound for the Penmen, allowing ten hits and four earned runs
in six innings of work. He did not walk a batter.
Garrett
Jewell (Alexandria, N.H.) gave up two hits and one run
in two innings of relief for the Penmen. Jose Macias earned
the win for Franklin Pierce, giving up five hits and three runs in
seven innings of work.
Southern New Hampshire is idle until Saturday, when it hosts
Saint Rose for a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at 12:00 and
3:00 p.m. at Penmen Field.
