GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Southern New
Hampshire University women's lacrosse team fell to Adelphi
University by a score of 25-9 Saturday afternoon. With the victory,
the No. 1 ranked Panthers remain undefeated overall and within the
conference, posting records of 14-0 and 11-0, respectively. The
Penmen concluded Saturday's game with an 8-5 overall record and a
7-2 record within the Northeast-10 Conference.
Sara
Halbich (Salem, N.H.) led the Penmen with five points,
scoring four goals and an assist. Halbich recorded the only two
goals for the Penmen in the first half of the contest. Sherry Darrell
(Bow, N.H.) scored three goals and recorded two helpers, while
Emily
Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) and Carole Lee (Derry, N.H.)
each added a goal apiece. Rene DiPietro
(Quincy, Mass.) also recorded her first collegiate assist on
Halbich's final tally.
Marissa Mills, Claire Petersen, and Demmianne Cook recorded a
combined 22 points for Adelphi on the afternoon, as Mills scored
six goals and Peterson and Cook recorded five each.
Hannah
Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) remained in net for
the entire game, drawing the loss, allowing 25 goals while stopping
14 Adelphi shots on net. Caitlin Fitzpatrick earned the win, making
10 saves and allowing 9 Penmen goals.
The Penmen close out the season on the road, playing at Bentley
on April 28 at 7:00 pm and at Merrimack on May 1 at 1:00 pm.
